Rocksbox Jewelry Review April 2024

Mary Zubritsky
ByMary ZubritskyApr 26, 2024 | 0 comments

Since the warm weather's finally arrived, I chose pieces that reflected spring colors and trends! And while I'm not exactly a pearl girl, the new jewelry by Lele Sadoughi piqued my curiosity, so I added them to my box and they're quite spectacular (and maybe a little heavy).

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wish list. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.

Concerned about cleanliness? Each piece is sterilized with alcohol jewelry cleaner using medical grade products and handled with jewelry experts wearing gloves.

This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.

Let's check out this month's delivery!

What I Received

Lele Sadoughi Spin Skater Freshwater Pearl Hoop Earrings, Retail Value $198, Member Price $198

About this item: Putting a fun spin on the traditional pearl earring, these trendy earrings are crafted in shiny 14K gold plating over silver with three freshwater pearls. These hoop earrings are HEAVY, and after wearing them for a few hours, they feel like bricks. They measure at about 2.75" X .25"

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Review: I love these earrings, but wow are they heavy! I had to give my earlobes many days off in between wears.

Note: While the Rocksbox website states that these are faux pearls, the Lele Sadoughi website says that they are freshwater pearls. I believe that Rocksbox copywriters are creating incorrect copy saying they're faux pearls, which makes me think I need to double-check all items before I write them up.

I was a product copywriter for Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC, so I understand the turn and burn, but if their buyers aren't supplying correct information, there is a bigger issue at play over at RB. Rant over. 🙂

Lele Sadoughi Crystal Lily Earrings - Retail Price $198, Member Price $198

About this item: Crafted in multi-color pastel acetate, these oversized lily earrings feature a 3/4" crystal pave center and they measure at 3" x 2.5". They're lighter weight than the skater earrings, but they hang a little low and bend on the earlobe.

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Review: I'm really starting to love statement earrings and these Lily earrings got so many compliments! People stopped by my desk, stopped me on the street, and approached me in bars and restaurants to ask about them.

Lele Sadoughi Pearl Station Necklace - Retail Value $125, Member Price $125

About this item: Ok, so these pearls are in fact faux, and they're strung along (story of my life) gold-tone metal hardware with a lobster clasp closure. They're pretty lightweight and they measure at approximately 16" in length with a 3" extender.

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Review: Paired well with the earrings, but I'm just not a pearl girl! They're really well made and unique, but I just feel like they don't suit me much.

The Verdict

Fun set that's perfect for the warmer weather, but I had to send back everything before I tore my earlobes!

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would've cost me $518.00. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-three-items $10 discount, the $21 of Shine Credit (doesn't look like this applied this time), and my Rose Gold Rewards discount of $25.55 the total price for the three items goes down to $454.45.

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
