First Impressions
How cute is the crystal-covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation!
The crystal was carefully packaged: nestled in packing paper and enclosed in bubble wrap. It’s not surprising then, that it arrived in perfect condition.
Enchanted Crystal includes two inserts in their monthly subscription box. The first uses several QR codes to link to various letters on their blog. One links to a letter to new subscribers, another to their Crystal Library, and one to the current month’s newsletter.
In the March blog post, Enchanted Crystal shares that with spring’s arrival, they're cleaning their shop, organizing their crystal storage and upgrading their tracking technology. They also gave a peek of a rare stone that some of their oldest subscribers received: Astrophyllite.
The second insert gives the details of one of March's star crystals: Dragon’s Tooth Amethyst. While some subscribers received astrophyllite, I feel lucky to have been sent the amethyst. This second insert is wonderful because it gives the history of this unique form of amethyst as well as its metaphysical properties. The Crystals
Bronzite & Icelandic Spar (Bonus Crystals)
Each month, Enchanted Crystal includes a small collection of bonus crystals and stones. I look at these extras as an appetizer; a little taste to get you hungry for more! The bonus crystals I received in this box were two small pieces of bronzite and a slice of Icelandic spar.
These bronzite pieces are great because they’re a new addition to my collection. Unfortunately, Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library doesn’t contain a listing for bronzite, but I was easily able to find interesting information about the stone.
According to the Healing Crystals Company, “Bronzite is called a guardian stone that neutralizes the negative energies and bad auras. The consistent frequency and vibrations of bronzite repel negative energy. It also protects against hexes, curses, and psychic attacks.”
I’ve received Icelandic spar in a past box but it’s beautiful so I don’t mind a repeat. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, Icelandic Spar, “...is formed through a process called sedimentation, where calcium-rich waters deposit calcite crystals over time….Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect.” What that means is that if your piece of Icelandic spar is clear enough, you might be able to see the effect by looking through it onto another object. This made it very difficult to photograph, but it’s an interesting stone to look at.
“Metaphysically, Icelandic is associated with clarity and insight, helping to clear mental fog and enhance focus. The double refraction effect is said to symbolize the ability to see different perspectives and find balance in life. Icelandic spar is also considered a spiritual amplifier, enhancing one's connection to higher consciousness and aiding in meditation and spiritual practices.”
A great start. Now, on to the main event!
Dragon’s Tooth Amethyst
The main crystal this month is dragon’s tooth amethyst. Amethyst is so beautiful that it’s impossible not to have seen jewelry made with it. I’ve even used it in my own designs, but dragon’s tooth is a variety of amethyst that I’ve never even heard of.
According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, “Discovered in 2018, dragon’s tooth amethyst were originally part of a massive deposit of large elestial style amethyst crystals found in Bahia, Brazil. These unique crystals get their shape due to the matrix/bond between them breaking apart into long wand-like shapes. Generally, when crystals form in clusters, they’re molecularly bonded to each other. But somehow, these crystals grew independently and side by side into a larger cluster, yet never fully connected. Due to the crystals growing so tightly against each other, they formed impressions of their growth pattern on each of their crystal neighbors. This fascinating process left behind the markings you see alongside the lower stem of the crystal. These indentations are the exact imprint of another crystal that someone else in the world now has!”
Enchanted Crystal adds that, “Metaphysically, amethyst is often regarded as a stone of calmness, balance, and is believed to promote emotional well-being and spiritual insight. Many people use amethyst for meditation, stress relief, and promoting a peaceful environment. Due to dragon's tooth amethyst being a more recent discovery, its additional metaphysical properties are up for debate. Some believe that its bonded growth style makes it capable of unifying properties of other amethyst if placed near together.”
I’m in awe of this crystal. And not just because it's gorgeous. I find the way in which it was formed utterly fascinating. I love knowing that somewhere in the world, someone has a crystal that grew so close to mine that its imprint has been forever etched onto my crystal. I can see why people would feel a metaphysical bond with others who possess this same type of crystal!
The Verdict
March’s box was great for several reasons. I was able to add two new types of crystals to my collection. The Dragon’s Tooth Amethyst is beautiful and it’s exciting that it’s a newer find. I’m really in love with the idea that my crystal is, in a way, connected to the crystals that grew around it. Knowing that somewhere in the world, someone is enjoying their piece of dragon’s tooth amethyst that has the impression of mine etched onto it (and theirs onto mine) is really special.
If you are interested in crystals, the monthly box is a great place to start your collection. As for the value, considering subscribers receive a large, beautiful crystal (as well as several small bonus ones) and the fact that shipping is included in the $16 cost, I feel that the subscription price is a very good deal.
I’m always excited to see what this box will contain and what beauty and knowledge lie within it!
