First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives in a box with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other.

So, this was my first time receiving Nourish Beauty Box, and unfortunately the box arrived a bit beat up. It's not their fault shipping was a little rough, but it made the photos slightly more challenging at first.

Now, on to the items!

SOLAANA MD Healthy Base Layer Cream Moisturizer, 4 fl. oz. - Retail Value $65

With summer just around the corner, I've been on the hunt for a fresh-smelling, lightweight cream and Solaana's Healthy Base Layer is a smooth, non-greasy potion that's whipped to perfection. This versatile, vitamin D-enriched skin cream was designed for the face, but I've worn it all over my body. As a base layer (think primer) for the skin, this vegan, physician-formulated cream locks in moisture, and nourishes skin, leaving behind a silky, smooth canvas that nutrifies with all-natural ingredients such as aloe, coconut oil, seed oil, and leaf oil. Even the packaging with its lilac hue and soft touch brings about a sense of calm and a spa-like experience.

Here is a drop of the moisturizer on my skin.

PEONY COSMETICS Vacation Glow, 5 g - Retail Value $22

I'm in my mid-40s, and it seems social media is aware of my age and skin concerns because I am constantly targeted tutorials on mature skin makeup. Do I add sparkle and shine, or should it be matte all the time? No one seems to agree, but with Peony Cosmetics Vacation Glow, it's so subtle, it adds a halo-like effect to my skin rather than taking me back to my club days in NYC. This healthy, 99% natural powder illuminator ensured my skin never stops glowing with just one quick application. I followed another tutorial and brushed it onto my cheekbones, brow bones, and along the bridge of my nose and I looked like I just came back from vacay on the Mediterranean. Formulated with good-for-you ingredients like apricot, jojoba and macadamia oils, this lightweight powder helped me diffuse my extra-large pores and gave me a youthful-looking glow (without glowsticks).

NOURISH BEAUTY Lucid Glow Vegan Lip Shimmer in Butter Pop, 0.07 fl. oz. - Retail Value $16

My mom LOVES to buy me shiny lip gloss, and while I always appreciate the thought, the truth is most of it completely dries out my lips (looking at you, VS) and I never finish it! That was not the case with Nourish Beauty's Lucid Glow in Butter Pop. This nourishing lip treatment glides on smoothly and adds a subtle glow and a pop of color. Formulated with pearlescent micro shimmers and moisturizing ingredients like sunflower, avocado, apricot, and jojoba oils, this lip essential brightens up my face with a quick swipe!

NOURISH BEAUTY Sahara + Glow Cactus Flower Illuminator in Savanna, 0.11 oz. - Retail Value $14

My family is a mix of Ukrainian and Irish, and while I take after my dad's side with my height and build, I have my mom's pale Irish skin. Veins, blood vessels, rosacea...you name it, I've got it! I'm always on the hunt for a bronzer or blush that makes me look like I just stepped out of the sun (minus sun poisoning) without appearing unnatural, and I was pleasantly surprised by Sahara + Glow Illuminator! This vegan, talc-free powder is formulated with olive and prickly pear oils for soothing hydration, and oregano, lavender and rosemary extracts to keep skin in tip-top shape. With milled mica pigments for a silky feel and ambient glow, I look like I just got a quick, healthy dose of sun during my lunch break!

Here's a swipe of the Sahara + Glow Illuminator.

Verdict

As a bunny mom and animal lover, I ❤ how Nourish Beauty Box promotes cruelty-free, organic, and all-natural products. And despite the box arriving a little beat up, I've had it now for about three weeks and I've worked my way through quite a bit of each product. While I found the healthy base layer to be quite overpriced for what it is, the other three items are reasonably priced, and as a subscriber, I really did get a big bang for my month!

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
