5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Primer Under Your Foundation

If there’s one thing people know about me, it’s that I love my makeup. But as an oily skin girly, I’m used to having to touch up throughout the day with blotting sheets, powder, and extra product when my makeup inevitably starts to slide off my face.

It’s a small price to pay, right? So when I decided to add Il Makiage No Filter Primer to my routine, I knew it was going to be totally unnecessary. And after using it for a couple of weeks, let me tell you 5 reasons I think that you really don’t need a primer under your foundation!

1. It makes my skin look way too smooth!

The No Filter primer is silicone based, with an incredible silky texture that feels weightless on my skin. My pores and texture appear so blurred, making me look like I’ve been photoshopped or have a filter on my face. Even on days where I don’t want to wear makeup, popping this on after my skincare makes my skin look way too good and smooth!

2. My oily skin is way too tamed with this product!

No one told me I wouldn’t have to keep powdering my face every hour when it would start getting oily! Now that I’ve been using this primer, the sweat and shine stays controlled, yet my face still feels lightly hydrated. Plus, it’s cruelty free so I feel zero guilt with this purchase!

3. My makeup lasts way too long now.

My makeup used to slide off my face by the middle of the day, until I started using this primer underneath it. I used to have to re-apply foundation around my nose and cheeks a few times throughout the day. Now, not only does my makeup last all day without the need for touch-ups, but I also experience no makeup flaking or annoying creases around my eyes.

4.  I save more on foundation than ever before.

Before using this primer, I would use several pumps of foundation to get the desired coverage. Somehow it would just sink into my skin and disappear! But now that I use the No Filter Primer first, my foundation bottle lasts way too long! I find that I only need one little pump, and somehow it goes so much farther on top of the primer, and my skin looks even more fabulous and smooth. I no longer have to drop bank on foundation re-stocks.

5. I can try it before I buy it.

Il Makiage has this program where you can order the full size product and just pay shipping, try it out for 14 days, and if you love it - you can keep it and your card will be charged the full amount of $49 (or $44.10 with a subscription) on the 14th day. If you don’t love it, just send it back within the 14 day window and you won’t be charged! This definitely gave me peace of mind when I first got this product.

My biggest regret? Not trying this sooner!
